PARKWAY

Parkway’ is a virtual exploration of the infrastructural non-places that characterize North-American urban centres – urban highways, rail and hydro corridors as well as arterial zones of transition designed for the flow of goods, communications, energy and workforce. These areas are seldom contemplated directly; rather, they are observed in passing, way-posts on the daily commute. In many cases, such areas nonetheless bear names that are reminders of a bucolic past that has been largely eradicated by the logistics of urban living. ‘Parkway’ encourages a visual and sonic reappraisal of such spaces, an acknowledgement of the sensorial and historical complexities enclosed therein.
